Dr. John Chatas was born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI. He earned a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a Medical Degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1987. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan and became a Board Certified Anesthesiologist in 1991.

Certification in Pain Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiologists. In 2007, Dr. Chatas achieved the highest certification possible in his field by becoming a Fellow of the World Institute of Pain. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. In 2009, Dr. Chatas was recognized by his peers as one of the Southeast Michigan's "Top Doctors" in his specialty of Pain Medicine.
