About Westbrook

Joan Westbrook, PA, has been a physician assistant for 20 years. She currently sees patients at Michigan Pain Specialists at their office in Adrian, Michigan. Joan has experience with family practice and sports medicine. She was also a renal dietitian before embracing a second career as a physician assistant. 

Joan completed her bachelor’s degree in dietetics at Michigan State University in East Lansing in 1984. She then earned her master’s degree in exercise science in 1988 and completed the physician assistant studies program in 1998 at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. 

Wellness and exercise have always been important to Joan, and she encourages their significance to her patients. She likes to treat her patients as a whole and work towards the best quality of life. Joan considers herself a partner to her patients and is there to help them decide the best possible options of care available.

Joan is affiliated with the Michigan Association of Physician Assistants and the American Association of Physician Assistants and is on the medical staff at Forest Health Medical Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She is also a preceptor to physician assistant students at the University of Detroit Mercy, Wayne State University, and Central Michigan University.

When she is not working, Joan’s hobbies include traveling, biking, quilting, and kayaking.
